Australian National Age Group Championships 2012
Hamilton Aquatics saw 3 of their swimmers travel to Australia to compete at the Australian National Age Groups. Lizzy Hancock, Gabby Austin and Krista Ceplite competed over the last 6 days at the Brisbane Aquatics Centre which boasted a 10 lane 50m competition pool, an 8 lane 25m diving pool, a 13 lane 50m outdoor warm up pool and an 8 lane 25m training pool. 1600 swimmers qualified and raced at the championships including Australian Olympic Team qualifiers Cameron Mcevoy, Yolane Kukla and Mitchell Larkin. Lizzy qualified for the first time and raced in the 200m Backstroke and the 400m Freestyle. Gabby competed in the championships for the second time in her swimming career as she raced in the 100m Freestyle on day one and the 100m Backstroke on day two. Krista raced a total of 6 events during the meet, 200m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 200m IM, 800m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle and the 400m IM. Krista managed to make the final for the 800m coming 9th in the 12\13 age band but 2nd out of the 12 year olds, standing her in good position for next year’s championships where she will be the top of the age band.
Malta Easter Meet
Matthais Falzon-Young and Francesca Falzon-Young both flew to Malta after competing in the Norwich Meet to race in their home country, Malta. Although tiredness was a concern, both of the swimmers were tough and positive for each race with Matthais coming away with two medals and two PB's and Francesca coming away with five medals and five PB's
Pakistan Junior Nationals
Lianna Swan travelled to Pakistan last week to compete in her first Junior Nationals in the country. Lianna triumphed and came away with a very impressive 10 Gold Medals and 10 National Junior Records. Well done to Lianna.
Perth, West Australia
Tyra Stowers achieved some fantastic PB's at a local meet in West Australia. Tyra who competes for her home club, West Coast qualified for the state short course championships in all events that she swam in, well done Tyra.
